What I Would Have Been
“The world goes on, my friends have moved on.
They graduated and went to college.
They got married and had children.
And they have the money to do so.”
“Where am I? What are my finances?
A bill has come, not for amenities or utilities either.
No, I owe my doctor money.”
“Others in my shoes struggle as well.
Whereas they could have lived a life of luxury,
They now live a life of poverty.
Because of the medical bills.”
The cost eats up everything.
There is less you can do.
There is less financial freedom.
And you’re needs are never met.
Because something always eats it.
A test to be done,
A procedure to be done,
Supplements and pills to take.
Your doctor says you need to diet,
To eat his special diet food.
Where is they money for that?
Because you had to pay to get some labwork done.
But you have to spend out of pocket,
Because treatments in the medical world aren’t working.
You’ve had to go natural,
And that’s expensive.
It’s all out of pocket now,
But you have no choice;
How else are you going to get better, otherwise?
You gamble and spend $1,000 on a treatment,
You hope it will work.
Others have had success with it.
But it doesn’t work for you.
Or you try it, and you don’t have the money to continue,
Because expenses add up,
And you wonder,
“How can I give anything a try with all these expenses?”
Your friends have moved on,
You’re much older now,
And you still haven’t moved on.
You’re stuck in life,
Not living, just existing,
Wondering when you can finally move on
And have your life to.
